Another boring day… annoying. So annoying that I pretty much slept most of it away and the remanding hours I had left pretty much went to homework.
Well I pretty much got all morning (of the next day) to kill before I get tired and repeat the process all over again. I really need to find something to do, Fanfiction is great and I can pretty much never see myself getting tired of it, but the updating from the stories I read are so far apart that I’m left waiting for a new update to hurry the hell up. I’ve been even trying manga, which I mentioned before, and like fanfiction the updating is just as slow *Cries* but when the updates do come, you best believe I’m checking it out first thing. They are often exciting especially if the manga or Story I’m currently into is very good.
Talking about stories boy I can be picky. I’m sure it annoys other people or some people don’t even bother to notice the smaller things. But outside of grammar (which I hardly notice for unless is really bad) little things like details and some sayings (dialogue) just urk me. I hate when a author spends more time telling their audience every little detail, like the brand of clothes they are wearing or the brand coffee they happen to be drinking at that exact moment. Sure details are what makes a story more real to audience but often times being vague works better.
I don’t need to know that Jack wears red Tripp pants, a slipknot t-shirt and some black steel toe Dr. Martian’s boots. A simple explanation that his style was punk would give the audience some sort of idea of what he’s wearing. Perhaps something like he wore red skinny jeans, a black band shirt and some combat boots will give your audience something to fill in. They may perhaps have a different band in mind for his t-shirt and any style combat boots of their choice. Let your audience think, and don’t do that part for them. Items like foods and stores, another problem. A simple he was drinking black coffee or a even something as far as a brownie frappuccino is a lot better than saying that he was drinking a Starbucks brownie frappuccino. Sure Starbucks is everywhere, but we don’t need to know that.
I’m pretty sure the people who actually do that are like well you don’t write so you can’t complain. As a reader, yes I can. You want to keep your readers even the more picky ones. Why? They are the ones who provide the most help when it comes time to review the story or the latest chapter. They point out what seems wrong, what’s missing and what you can improve on.
Well enough on that. I guess that’s it for this random entry/rant. I seem to do a lot of those.
